PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Northwest Allen County School Corporation’s Cedar Canyon Elementary School is a recent example of the skills and abilities of the site-design staff of ForeSight Consulting.

The project included the development of nearly 90,000 square feet of building along with associated parking lots, drives, and utility infrastructure on a 30-acre site in northwest Allen County, Indiana. During the project, the staff of ForeSight worked closely with the Northwest Allen County School Corporation and Barton Coe Vilamaa Architects Engineers to develop a site plan that provided for the immediate needs of the school corporation and incorporated the long-term growth objectives for the surrounding area. Similarly, ForeSight spent significant time coordinating the components of the project with the multiple local governing agencies. Multiple meetings were held throughout the project-design phase with the Allen County Highway Department, the Allen County Surveyor’s Office, and the Town of Huntertown to coordinate site access, roadway improvements, drainage improvements, and water and sanitary-sewer extensions to the project site.

As a result of these efforts, the project was reviewed and approved in an expedited timeframe, permitting the start of construction in early spring, and thereby accommodating a tight construction time schedule. We continue to enjoy an excellent relationship with both Northwest Allen County School Corporation and Barton Coe Vilamaa, and believe that the Cedar Canyon Elementary School project is a testament to the hard work, communication, and teamwork of ForeSight and the project design team.
