Consulting is leading the civil-engineering, surveying, and
landscape-architecture phase at Renaissance Pointe, an old
part of Fort Wayne that will get a brand-new look.
The three-phase, $70 million Renaissance Pointe urban-renewal
project calls for improvements to infrastructure, the construction
of 400 new homes, and the refurbishing
of more than 100 homes in the 36-block area of southeastern Fort Wayne bordered
by Creighton Avenue, Pontiac Street, Anthony Boulevard, and Hanna Street.
ForeSight has been tasked with the initial phase that will
result in improvements to streets, sidewalks, and utilities
infrastructure, as well as landscaping
to beautify the area. The street-improvement portion of the project includes
the
extension of two streets and a change to the directional flow of traffic
on some thoroughfares. The jewel in the project will be a
new YMCA and nature
trail amid
the 66-acre tract.
“This is a very high-profile project for both the City of Fort Wayne and
our firm,” says Todd Bauer, ForeSight founder and principal. “This
once-thriving area has suffered neglect for many years and is now considered
blighted. We believe that this project will not only revitalize the area, but
bring a renewed sense of pride to residents.”
Todd has a special affinity for the targeted neighborhood;
his family lived just a few blocks away during a portion
of his boyhood.
“I’ve always had an affection for that neighborhood,” Todd
says. “My dad, Randy, worked there, and I remember going to work
with him a few times. We moved to another part of town when I was 9
years old, but I’ve
always fondly remembered the people and places in that area. That neighborhood
has seen better days, but we hope that this project will change that.
The residents there are good people, and they deserve better than what
the neighborhood has
become.”
